CANTON — Chairman Scotty Kilbreth told the Board of Selectmen on Thursday night that the Whitney Brook dam should be finished by the end of this month.
Plans had to be reworked due to the depth of bedrock, he said, but the project is still on schedule.
The dam replaces a dilapidated one the town took by eminent domain. Whitney Brook is an outlet to Lake Anasagunticook, and the dam helps regulate the level of the lake.
Sue Gammon has secured free trees for the area around the dam and for trails in Canton. She is also applying for a grant to get more trees for the area.
Selectmen interviewed two qualified applicants for part-time, on-call snowplowing, but both wanted full-time work. The town will advertise the position again.
The board was asked by Administrative Assistant Kelly Cavanaugh about getting voting booths before the November 2012 election. Kilbreth said to get prices and put them in next year’s budget.
The next board meeting will be Nov. 22 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
