Sam Bergmark, Bangor junior: Bergmark won the Class A North title in 15:57.70 and finished fifth at the state meet in 16:47.48. He also placed sixth at the Festival of Champions in 16:15.01.

Harper Borden, Edward Little senior: Borden placed sixth (16:51.44) at the Class A championships and was third (16:15.31) at the Class A North meet. He finished ninth in 16:22.10 at the Festival of Champions.

Enzo Giampaolo, Lewiston senior: Giampaolo finished fourth at both the Class A statee (16:44.50) and North regional (16:25.13). He edged Hampden Academy’s Asher Valentine to win the KVAC A title with a time of 16:33.70 and was the runner-up at the Festival of Champions. Giampaolo, a returning Varsity Maine All-State selection, was also named the KVAC A Runner of the Year.

Alex Gilbert, Freeport senior: The Varsity Maine Boys Runner of the Year delivered in the biggest events of the fall. A repeat All-State selection, Gilbert won the Festival of Champions (15:45.82), the Class B South regional (16:16.10) and the Class B state title (16:35.14). He also won the Western Maine Conference championship and was the top Maine finisher at the New England championships, finishing 14th.

Atticus Merriam, Scarborough junior: A Varsity Maine All-State selection last year, Merriam finished third at the Class A South regional in a time of 16:56.26. He was also third at the Festival of Champions, finishing in 15:58.13. He was seventh at the Class A championship (16:57.13).

William Morris, Dirigo junior: Morris had a dominant postseason, winning the Mountain Valley Conference (16:39.60), Class C South regional (16:37.98) and Class C championship (16:33.27) by an average of 38.6 seconds. He finished 19th at the New England championships, second among Maine runners. He was named MVC Runner of the Year.

Levi Riggs, Morse senior: Riggs had an excellent season for the Shipbuilders, finishing second at both the Class B South regional (16:35.81) and Class B state meet (16:52.25). He also won the KVAC B title (16:37.50) and finished fifth (16:04.89) at the Festival of Champions. He was named KVAC B Runner of the Year.

Henri Rivard, Marshwood senior: Another returning All-State selection, Rivard had a strong finish to his high school cross country career. He edged Ellis Wood by 0.89 seconds to win the Class A title on Nov. 1 in Augusta. He also won the Class A South championship (16:13.74) and finished seventh at the Festival of Champions (16:16.22). Rivard was named the SMAA Runner of the Year.

Asher Valentine, Hampden Academy senior: Valentine, also a 2024 All-State pick, helped the Broncos win the Class A team title, finishing third (16:34.41). He was the runner-up (16:02.51) at both the Class A North regional and KVAC A championship (16:36.37).

Ellis Wood, Deering senior: An All-State selection last year, Wood improved his postseason times this fall. He finished second in both the Class A state championship race (16:31.81) and the South regional (16:26.70), after placing 17th at the Festival of Champions.

Coach of the Year

Sarah Carrigan, Yarmouth: Carrigan led the Clippers to a postseason sweep, with titles in the Western Maine Conference and Class B South meets before they snapped Freeport’s four-year reign at the Class B championships. The Clippers were paced by sophomores Jackie Chalmers (third place), Bowen Mitchell (sixth) and Eli Chalmers (ninth).
