LEWISTON — The Jesus Party Pentecostal Kid’s Church does not provide holiday assistance to families by way of food, clothing or monetary gifts. The urban youth outreach focuses on making an effort to mold a meaningful and memorable moment in the minds of many children during the Christmas season.

Ministry directors Rev. Douglas and Sonia Taylor announce the holiday schedule of events that are open to the children of the community at no cost. All Friday gatherings will take place at Jesus Party headquarters, at 291 Bates St., and will begin at 6 p.m., with the exceptions of holiday field trips.

On Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m. and on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m., the ministry will take a field trip to the East Auburn Baptist Church for their 18th annual “Christmas Spectacular.”

Friday, Dec. 2, children will enjoy Christmas cookies and punch, along with a film titled, “The Very First Noel,” the story of the Three Wise Men on their wondrous quest to find the new-born King.

Friday, Dec. 9, a special holiday ice cream social will take place. The children will be guided into unwrapping the true meaning of Christmas and the reason behind all the lights, presents and decorations.

Saturday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m., children will board the holy roller express vans to journey to the Pathway Vineyard Church for its annual “Nativity Live,” where they will enjoy a play, homemade Christmas cookies, hot apple cider and a hay ride.

A Candy Cane Christmas will take place Friday, Dec. 16. Children will discover the story of hope and the hidden meaning of a favorite Christmas candy, the candy cane. Children will view a film titled, “The Legend of the Candy Cane.” Christmas candy will be passed out to all in attendance.

On Monday, Dec. 19, and Tuesday, Dec. 20, at 6 p.m., the ministry will roll out into the streets on the holy roller express vans for an evening of hot chocolate and Christmas light cruising. The children will enjoy stopping at the best light displays in the community.

On Friday, Dec. 23, The Jesus Party will celebrate their 17th annual Inner-City Christmas Party. The evening will be filled with traditional and contemporary Christmas sing-alongs, a festive buffet of holiday food and small gifts for everyone. A film titled, “The Prince of Peace” in 3D animation will tell the story of the birth of Jesus Christ.

On Friday, Dec. 30, the volunteers of the ministry will throw a Pre-New Year’s Eve Party for children complete with party hats, noise makers and leis. Special music, food and a showing of an animated version of Charles Dickens’ most famous tale, “A Christmas Carol,” will be enjoyed.

The Jesus Party is a nonprofit faith-based organization and is not supported by local churches. It is supported solely by the generosity of the people who live in the surrounding communities. Anyone who would like to make a donation, share a resource or display a talent with inner-city children throughout the year should contact the Taylors at 786-5568.
