The matchup of last week’s top-two teams in the Varsity Maine boys hockey poll played out as a 1-vs.-2 showdown should: three periods weren’t enough to settle the duel. In overtime, No. 1 Thornton Academy emerged with a victory over No. 2 Yarmouth/Freeport.

Those two teams again top the rankings. Thornton is the unanimous No. 1 for the second consecutive week.

The Cony co-op jumps up a spot to third, and the Lewiston co-op moves from fifth to fourth. Edward Little rejoins the rankings after a week on the outside.

The Varsity Maine boys hockey poll is based on games played before Jan. 13, 2026. The top five teams are voted on by the Varsity Maine staff, with first-place votes in parentheses, followed by total points.
