BRUNSWICK — The Bowdoin College department of theater and dance will present its annual December Dance Concert on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Dec. 1-3.

The performance is open to the public; admission is free. General admission tickets are required and are available at the David Saul Smith Union information desk, 725-3375.

The concert will include the following dances:

“The Revolution,” an Afro-contemporary work set to music by Bob Marley with text written by the performers. The dance explores ideas of strength, resistance, community and the power of belief.

“Illuminate,” a contemporary ballet for eight dancers who intertwine, disperse, and realign to reflect the evocative sounds of a Bach cello suite.

“A Series of Needlessly Dramatic Events (Part 2),” which uses musical cliches as point of departure as well as arrival.

“In our own hands,” a quartet that animates the space between isolation and collective action.

The dance concert will begin at 8 p.m. in Pickard Theater, Memorial Hall, on the Bowdoin campus.
