LEWISTON — A plate glass window at FX Marcotte furniture store was smashed Thursday morning when a local man lost control of his car and struck the front of the building.
Police said 20-year-old Moises Samba was driving a Ford Fusion on Lincoln Street when he crashed into the store at Lincoln and Chestnut streets.
What caused the 11 a.m. crash was still being investigated later Thursday. Traffic at the intersection is controlled with a light.
Samba’s car struck the window between two brick pillars, shattering the glass. An FX Marcotte worker said nobody inside the building was hurt and the business remained open while repairs were being made to the window.
Samba, too, escaped the wreck without injury. The front end of his Ford was smashed in the impact, although the extent of damage to the car and to the building was still being assessed Thursday afternoon.
