A propane tank left behind by a construction crew at MaineHealth Stephens Hospital was removed Feb. 27 after ‘an unusual odor’ wafted through the building, an administrator said.
An investigation into “an unusual odor” wafting through MaineHealth Stephens Hospital on Friday, Feb. 27, was resolved when first responders from the Norway Fire Department located an opened propane tank on the roof, left behind by a construction crew earlier in the day. The tank was promptly removed. “Testing within the Emergency Department did not identify any safety risk,” the hospital’s president Jeff Noblin said in a statement Tuesday, adding that patient care areas remained safe throughout the response, and clinical operations continued without interruption. “The safety of our patients and care team members remains our highest priority. We are grateful for the swift response and strong partnership of our local emergency personnel.” (Nicole Carter/Staff Writer)
