It really is interesting to go to various Maine towns and visit these well-cared-for capsules of information that take us back in time. Make it your mission to check out a few this spring and summer. It’s always a good thing to learn something new!
DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Law Offices of Joe Bornstein is pleased to announce the continuation of its high school scholarship program with our 22nd annual Arrive Alive Creative Contest. The contest is open to graduating high school seniors in Maine who wish to send a message to their peers about the dangers of drinking and driving and the dangers of distracted driving. The deadline for entry is Friday, May 1.
First place winners receive a new laptop computer, second- and third-place winners receive a new iPad, and all seniors who enter receive fun prizes from our law firm.
Past winners have submitted essays, poems, paintings, videos, original songs, public service announcements, T-shirt designs, board games, drawings and more. The more creative, the better!
A complete set of rules and all past winning entries can be viewed online at www.arrivealivecreativecontest.com or Facebook.
In the past 21 years, the Law Offices of Joe Bornstein has given away over $200,000 in prizes to graduating high school seniors who have helped educate their peers on the dangers of drinking and driving, and the dangers of distracted driving.
Each year communities in Maine are devastated by tragic driving accidents. Thank you for helping send the message to teenagers: “Stay Safe and Arrive Alive!”
ANSWER: I’m happy to help get the word out about this contest. There are five young drivers in my family, and sadly we know someone who was killed in a collision that involved an impaired driver just a few months ago.
If you have kids in your household who are driving, I’m sure you have concerns about them and others on the road who are impaired or distracted. Keep the conversations going about safety and responsibility and encourage them to enter this great contest that has been going on for many years.
Readers, if you know of other businesses and organizations offering high school scholarships, let’s hear about them!
