LEWISTON — A small black pug found wandering in the Dill Street area over the weekend appears to be somebody’s pet, an animal control official said.

But as of Monday night, the dog remained at the Humane Society, waiting for its owner to come and claim it.

Animal Control Officer Wendell Strout was called Sunday after the pug was found roaming in a backyard at 4 Dill St. Strout said he knocked on doors all over the neighborhood but has yet to find the owner. He was asking that anyone with information call him at the Lewiston Police Department or check in with the shelter on Strawberry Avenue in Lewiston.

The male pug weighs about 30 pounds, Strout said.
