DEAR SUN SPOTS: With Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22, I’d like to hear what Sun Spotters are doing for our beautiful, yet struggling, planet. Does anyone have creative ideas to share that can be used by a group? Or are you going it alone? We’re going to plant a few trees and shrubs. We’d also like to donate to Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association and to Pineland in lieu of spending money on our group members’ birthday gifts and lunch out. It feels like the right thing to do. Let us know what you’re doing and we’ll spread the word for you! — Cindy, Farmington
ANSWER: Cindy and I, as well as other Sun Spotters, want to hear about how you’re spending your day, and what you do year-round to give tender loving care to our Mother Earth. If you know of specific events folks can sign up for, please share the information.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: It’s that time of year again! The Rumford and Mexico Historical Societies invite you to our Annual Plant Sale — our largest fundraiser of the year.
The Rumford and Mexico historical societies will team up at 11 Fifth St. in Mexico for their annual Plant Sale on Saturday and Sunday, May 16 and 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Shoppers can look forward to a wide selection of plants, including over 300 potted perennials, annual flowers, vegetable, and herb seedlings, and 15 varieties of tomatoes.
All proceeds support our annual operating expenses. We hope to see you there! — Nghia Ha, no town
ANSWER: We’re finally on the other side of this long winter and have plant sales to look forward to. Isn’t that just the best? Just tapping out the details of this event on my keyboard lifts my spirits. I hope many Sun Spotters will come out to support these two historical societies and take home some beautiful plants.
