LEWISTON — The CareerCenter, 5 Mollison Way, continues its monthly programming including workshops for job seekers and those who are considering training to upgrade their skills to increase their employability.
There will be a job fair from 9 to 10 a.m. on Dec. 20 with up to eight businesses, which are hiring, on hand to discuss the openings.
“GATEway to Employment” is held every Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. This workshop gives an overview of basic information on resumes, interviews and job search skills, as well as CareerCenter and community services that are available. To register, call 753-9005.
“Job Search Tips for People with a Criminal History” will be held at the CareerCenter from 9 to 10 a.m. on Dec. 2. To register, call 753-9005. Also held at Lewiston City Hall from 3 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 12. To register for that workshop, call 513-3130, extension 3260.
“Job Search, Resumes and Interview Skills.” Learn how to stand out in a positive way by marketing yourself in a way that directly matches employer needs. “Tough” interview questions will be discussed so that you can answer them with confidence. “Professionals Moving Ahead!” meets from 2 to 5 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday each month. Registration not required. Topic for Dec. 13: “Transferable Skills,” with Patrick Therrien, training and education specialist with the Maine State Library. For Dec. 27: “L/A—It’s Happening Here!” presented by the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce.
“Aging Worker Initiative Orientation” for workers 55-plus with viable employment and training opportunities in the fields of health care, green energy and technology. Held 10:30 a.m. to noon on Dec. 19. To register, call 753-9005.

“Essentials of College Planning for Adults” — review a typical admissions application, request admissions materials and financial aid information from prospective colleges. Orientation for people with disabilities who are considering vocational rehabilitation services will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 16. Service providers are also welcome to attend. Registration not required.
