Edward Little ran home early and often on its new home field and cruised to a 10-3 Class A North baseball victory over Skowhegan on Friday in Auburn.
The Red Eddies (3-2), playing the first game on their on-campus baseball field, opened with a four-run first inning. They added five more runs in the bottom of the fourth and one in the fifth.
Catcher Adam Meserve singled twice and drove in two runs for Edward Little. Richie Norgren doubled and had two RBI, Max Kimble also drove in two runs, and Brooks Beaudry doubled, scored twice and knocked in a run.
Jason Aubin doubled and had an RBI for the River Hawks (2-3).
OXFORD HILLS 3, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 2: Carter Davis pitched a five-hitter and Finley Cavers singled home the eventual winning run in the third inning as the Vikings (5-0) won a clash of undefeated teams in Fryeburg.
Oxford Hills grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI single by Cam Pulkkinen and a sacrifice fly by Jacob Turcotte.
Alex Allain homered for Fryeburg in the bottom of the first. He also scored in the third on a single by Richard Massey.
Fryeburg pitcher Oliver Dean struck out six and allowed two earned runs over six innings.
SACOPEE VALLEY 8, LISBON 7: The Hawks scored two runs in the fifth inning and four in the sixth to rally from a 7-2 deficit against the Greyhounds in Hiram.
Donovan Harvey and Braiden Croteau both drove in two runs for Sacopee. Croteau and Owen Barsanti each had two hits.
Cooper Berkowitz was credited with the win in relief of Harvey. Barsanti struck out the side in the seventh.
Lisbon’s starting pitcher, Lincoln Matthews, gave up one earned run over the first four innings and led the Greyhounds’ offense with a single, a double, two RBI and two runs scored.
MOUNTAIN VALLEY 10, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 0: Josh Pollis and Zach McLean combined to pitch a five-inning no-hitter for the Falcons (3-1) against the Phoenix (0-3) in Rumford.
Pollis was on the mound for the first four innings and struck out six batters. Thirty-two of the 44 pitches he threw were strikes. McLean pitched the final inning and fanned two batters.
McLean led Mountain Valley with two hits and he drove in two runs. Catcher Kegan Jordan also had two RBI, and Pollis scored three runs.
SOFTBALL
LEAVITT 7, LAKE REGION 3: Charlee Pelletier doubled and singled for the Hornets (3-1) in a victory over the Lakers (3-3) in Turner.
Leavitt scored twice in the fifth and three times in the sixth to break open a close game.
Hornets pitcher Hailey Cyr took a shutout into the seventh inning and allowed only three hits.
Lake Region’s Haley Hamlin fanned eight Leavitt batters and hit a double.
MOUNTAIN VALLEY 11, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 1: Kyanah Wing was 3 for 3 with two doubles and a triple, leading the Falcons (1-1) to a five-inning win over the Phoenix (1-2) in Rumford.
Mountain Valley led 6-1 after two innings and invoked the mercy rule by scoring five runs in the fifth, capped by Addison Tidswell’s RBI single. Hayden Chase hit a two-run double during the outburst.
Wing drove in two runs and scored twice. Addison Libby, the winning pitcher, allowed only one hit, struck out three and walked three.
Rylee Turner got the lone hit for Spruce Mountain.
OXFORD HILLS 8, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 1: Kyeira Morse struck out 13 while tossing a two-hitter and also hit a triple and a single, leading the Vikings (5-0) past the Raiders (3-2) in Fryeburg.
Oxford Hills broke a 1-1 tie with a run in the fifth, then added four runs in the sixth with the help of hits by Kya Smith and Sam McPhail.
LEWISTON 10, OAK HILL 0: The Blue Devils (4-1) scored eight runs in the fifth inning to end the game against the Raiders (2-3) in Lewiston.
Harlee Gasser allowed two hits, struck out eight and walked two to earn the win. She also had a double. Matison Newton had two doubles, drove in two runs and scored once. Chloe Croteau added two hits, two RBI and two runs, while Piper Croteau added two hits and scored twice.
GIRLS LACROSSE
LEWISTON/OAK HILL 10, DEERING 4: Skylar Vachon paced a balance attack with two goals and three assists for the Blue Devils (2-3) in a win over the Rams (1-3) in Portland.
Gabrielle Roy netted three goals, and Anna Courtemanche and Scarlett Perry each recorded two. Lexus Keene also found the back of the net.
Lewiston goalie Hannah Burleigh stopped 10 shots.
BOYS LACROSSE
PORTLAND 14, LEWISTON 6: Andy Marvin’s six goals sparked the Bulldogs (3-3) to a victory over the Blue Devils (1-2) in Portland.
Elias Nicholas netted five goals, while Howard Lawson scored twice and Walter Hettenbach contributed a goal for Portland.
Collin Michaud notched a hat trick for the Blue Devils. Bernardo Fra-Nero tallied a goal and two assists, while Ben Gradwell added a goal and an assist. Cam Plourde also scored.
