MADISON — Mountain Valley put on a shooting clinic Thursday night, connecting on 16 3-point shots to pull away for an 86-48 triumph over Madison in an MVC boys’ basketball game.

The Falcons (3-1) raced to a 21-10 lead after the first quarter and 44-26 by halftime. Madison (1-3) fought back in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to 12 points before Mountain Valley erupted to put the game out of reach.

Ryan Nichols sank seven treys en route to a game-high 25 points. Jacob Theriault chipped in with 17 points and Zak Radcliffe added 16 points, including three baskets from beyond the arc.

Austin Kane scored 17 points to pace the Bulldogs. Derek Conners chipped in with nine points.

Poland 63, Greely 40

POLAND — Poland pulled out its long-range artillery and landed 11 3-pointers as the Knights trampled Greely from the perimeter with a 63-40 victory.

Poland (3-2) wasted no time building a 32-18 halftime lead had four players score in double-digit figures.

Jake Littlefield led the pack with 16 points followed by C.J. Martin with 13. Ricky Bryant and Logan Nichols each scored 11 points.

Greely’s Liam Maker dropped in 16 points.

Rangeley 57, Highview Christian 4

CHARLESTON — The Rangeley boys jumped out to a 15-0 lead in the first frame and raced away to a 57-4 romp over Highview Christian.

Alex Morton led the Lakers (1-3) with an impressive 18-point effort, while Eric White chipped in with 10.

Rangeley built a 30-0 advantage by halftime and cruised to the easy win.

Leavitt 59, Morse 40

TURNER — Andrew Middleton and Jordan Hersom ignited a 14-4 second quarter run that powered Leavitt to a 59-40 victory over Morse.

Hersom led the powerhouse Hornets (5-0) with 21 points and 15 rebounds. Tyler Walton chipped in with 12 points, seven assists and four steals, while Middleton finished with eight points. Hersom and Middleton tallied all 14 points for Leavitt in that second frame.

The Shipbuilders (1-4) were paced by D’Vaughn Myers with a solid 11-point effort, while Jordan Lister chipped in with six.

Dirigo 82, Winthrop 40

WINTHROP — Dirigo revved up its offense in the second quarter and pulled away to post a 82-40 victory over Winthrop

Ben Holmes led the undefeated Cougars (5-0) with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Cody St. Germain tallied 16 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. TJ Frost also contributed with nine points and five steals.

The Ramblers (0-5) were led by Taylor Morang with 10 points, while Hunter Kilgore and Ty Foster each added eight.

Spruce Mountain 76, Wiscasset 65

WISCASSET — Zach Bonnevie sparked a 29-18 second quarter run that powered Spruce Mountain to a 76-65 victory over Wiscasset.

Bonnevie tallied 10 of his game-high 22 points in that key second stanza, while James Barker chipped in with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Nate Shink also contribnuted for the Phoenix (5-0) with 15 points in a well-balanced attack.

The Redskins (1-3) were paced by Josh Jones with a game-high 23 points, while Jason Wetherbee chipped in with 11.

Boothbay 73, Lisbon 37

LISBON — Boothbay raced out to a 35-18 advantage at halftime and never looked back en route to a 73-37 rout of Lisbon.

Boothbay scored 19 points in three of four quarters to improve to 4-1.

Ben Dickinson netted a game high 15 points for the Seahawks. John Hepburn followed with 12 points. Kendall Roy paced the Greyhounds (0-5) with seven points. Derrick Lycette and Tucker Brannon followed with six points apiece.

Nokomis 78, Oak Hill 40

WALES — Andrew Cartwright sank four 3-point baskets pouring in a team high 18 points to help lead Nokomis to a 78-40 drudging of Oak Hill.

Nokomis took a 35-21 lead into the half and didn’t let up in the second half.

Ethan Pearl netted 17 points, while Spencer Hartsgrove followed with 12. Nokomis hit eight 3-point baskets. Oak Hill’s Sam Morin sank a game-high 20 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.

Hall-Dale 48, St. Dom’s 40

FARMINGDALE — Hall-Dale outscored St. Dom’s 18-11 in the final quarter to pull away for a 48-40 victory.

St. Dom’s used a strong third quarter to pull within a point, but couldn’t get any closer.

Austin Bechard led the Bulldogs (4-1) with 13 points. Brad Shepherd followed with 11 points.

Zack Johnson led all scorers with 15 points for the Saints (2-3) followed by David Dean’s nine points.

Mt. Blue 66, Oxford Hills 47

FARMINGTON — Senior Cam Sennick dumped in 15 points and hauled down 10 rebounds to help propel Mt. Blue to a 66-47 victory over Oxford Hills.

Mt. Blue used 10 different scorers while sinking three from behind the arc in the win. Nick Hilton finished with 10 points while Eric Berry added nine. Jamie Brooks and Steven Yardley each added seven for the Cougars (3-2).

Josh MacDonald led the Vikings (1-4) with 10 points followed by six points from John Frechette on a pair of 3-point baskets.

Cape Elizabeth 8, Levaitt 2

PORTLAND — After surviving a Leavitt onslaught in the opening frame, Cape Elizabeth righting its ship, erupting for three goals in the second period and four more in the third to earn an 8-2 victory over the Hornets at Portland Ice Arena on Thursday evening.

Nick Breed led the way for the Capers (2-0-2) with a goal and three assists, while Brandon Negele had a pair of goals and Satchel McCarthy added two goals and two helpers.

Elijah Lamothe had a goal for Leavitt, and Nick Allen stopped 20 shots in the defeat.
