“Seasonal Affective Disorder” will be presented by Paige Cummings and Diane Bouffard, regional parent support coordinator. Seasonal Affective Disorder can affect adults, teens and children. It is estimated about 6 in every 100 people  experience SAD.

A workshop will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, at Youth and Family Services, 5 Commerce Dr., Skowhegan.

“Positive Behavioral Supports and Tantrum Management: Self-Preservation and Success in Parenting Children with Behavioral Health Needs” will be presented by Cummings and Bouffard.

The workshop will offer a framework to understand the nature of a child’s behavior and methods to flexibly respond to the needs the child presents.

Sessions will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at at Alfond Youth Center, 126 North St., Waterville, and from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, at Crisis and Counseling, 10 Caldwell Road, Augusta. Another program will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Youth and Family Services, Skowhegan.

“Take Action Against Bullying” will be presented by Cummings and Bouffard. The workshop will help identify the warning signs of both the victim and the bully. Prevention and effective coping skills will be explored.

Programs will be offered from 6:30 to 8 p.m Tuesday, March 6, at Alfond Youth Center, Waterville; from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, at Crisis and Counseling, Augusta; and from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, at Youth and Family Services, Skowhegan.

All GEAR workshops are free for parents, grandparents or caregivers of children with emotional and behavioral health concerns.
