The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce is again offering scholarships for college level courses to eligible Franklin County residents. Two $1,000 scholarships are available to 2011 high school graduates as well as anyone going back to school for a new career, new skills training or continuing past freshman year. To receive the scholarship, the student must be registered as a full-time student.

Funded by the annual Chamber/Seth Wescott Scholarship Golf Classic event held at Sugarloaf in the fall, these scholarships, in addition to tuition fees, may be used for on-campus housing and online courses offered by educational institutions if part of a degree program. Applications are available on the Chamber’s website, www.franklincountymaine.org (in the ‘Chamber Information’ section, under the ‘Chamber Programs’ link), and are due into the Chamber no later than Friday, April 13. You may also request an application by emailing stephanie@franklincountymaine.org.

SAVE THE DATE! FCCOC and Seth Wescott will be back out on the Sugarloaf Golf Course on Friday, September 21 working to raise funds for the 2013 scholarship fund. Save the date and help support this worthwhile initiative!

In addition, the Franklin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is once again offering health career scholarships. The scholarships will be presented to students in need of financial assistance who reside in greater Franklin County, including Livermore Falls and Livermore, and are pursuing careers in the health care field. To be eligible, the applications must be completed and returned by April 15. Applicants must also have been accepted to a school of their choice by that date. In May, the Auxiliary will select six recipients for the $600 scholarships. The funds will be awarded following the successful completion of the first semester of post-secondary school.
