The First Universalist Church of Auburn reached out to the members of Outright L/A, a local LBGTQ youth group, for Valentine’s Day. The Social Justice Committee created 30 care packages for the youth full of edible treats, trinkets, stickers, affirming statements and valentines donated by church members. This tradition started last year when UU congregations were challenged to “reinvent” the holiday by Standing on the Side of Love, a national campaign sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Association, promoting respect, inclusion and compassion. For more information on the national campaign visit Standingonthesideoflove.org or auburnuu.org.
