Kelly Briggs Higgins is bathed in sunlight as she walks through the living room of a three-bedroom apartment at the former Webster School at 95 Hampshire St. in Auburn on Friday. Higgins and her mother, Eileen Paine, toured the school they attended in their youth. “I just wanted to not cry,” Paine said as she tried to recreate a floor plan in her mind. The 28 low-income apartments are a mix of elderly, handicapped-accessible and family units. To see more photos of the tour, visit sunjournal.com/websterschlapts2012.

The school now houses 28 apartments.
