AUBURN — The Auburn Exchange Club has announced the three Auburn Exchange Club Youth of the Year recipients for 2012: Connor Dumont, senior at Edward Little High School, Patrick LaChance, senior at St. Dominic Academy, and Rachel Mills, senior at Lewiston High School.
LaChance has been chosen to represent the Auburn Exchange Club in the New England District Youth of the Year competition.
The Auburn program begins by selecting the Youth of the Month. Each month from November to February students from Edward Little High School, Lewiston High School and St. Dominic Academy are nominated by their respective guidance departments as candidates for Youth of the Year.
Each monthly winner receives a $100 scholarship from the Auburn Exchange Club. Selection of the Youth of the Year is made from among the Youth of the Month recipients. The Youth of the Year winner from each school receives a $500 scholarship.
The Exchange award recognizes industrious high school students who attain high levels of scholastic achievement community involvement and leadership.
The Exchange Club is an all-volunteer, national service organization for men and women who want to serve their community, develop leadership skills and form new friendships.
