Nourishing children

AUBURN — The Auburn/Lewiston Chapter of the Weston A. Price Foundation will host a free presentation for parents called “Nourishing Our Children” from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at 100 Valerie Circle. Free childcare is available

The program is for everyone, whether parents or not. The program covers the dietary foundational principles Weston A. Price discovered during his extensive travels visiting native people eating native diets almost 100 years ago. It also exposes the dangers of modern processed foods and provides constructive advice for modern parents.

The presentation itself is roughly two hours long and includes 30 minutes for questions. The presenter is Andi Locke Mears of CALM HealthWorks and founder of the A/L WAPF Chapter. Call Tanya Quarterman at 754-7722 or email [email protected] for more information.

Survivor advocates

BRUNSWICK — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston is offering a free workshop for anyone interested in learning how to be a better advocate for cancer survivors and caregivers. “The Power of Your Voice, and How it Can Affect Change” will take place Thursday, May 3, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Parkview Adventist Medical Center.

Carolyn Hammer, grassroots advocacy coordinator, New England Division, American Cancer Society, will discuss how to affect change in Maine and make sure the voices of cancer patients are heard in the halls of government.
