L/A Arts has announced that Portland based African drumming group Inanna will be performing for all Sherwood Heights and Walton Elementary Schools in Auburn on May 7, followed by three-day classroom residencies by group member Annegret Baier, pictured, in both schools. Baier will work with second- and third-grade students to learn the art of African drumming, the geography of West Africa and the traditions and customs of how the people there live, work and play. In addition, at Sherwood Elementary, students will be tying the work to their curricular study of Ghana, West Africa, around the theme of joyful celebrations. Both schools will have final presentations for invited family and friends at the end of the residency.
