LEWISTON — The YWCA of Central Maine will be offering two separate sessions of American Red Cross Basic Water Rescue Course. The first session will take place on Sunday, May 20, from 12:30 to 5 p.m. and the second session will take place on Sunday, June 3, from 12:30 to 5 p.m.

The course teaches participants non-swimming rescue skills and is ideal for child care providers with pools less than four feet deep and less than 16 feet wide and for parents and grandparents with pools or other open water.

This is a great course for anyone who will be near water this summer as it will provide them with the basic lifesaving skills needed before professionals rescuers arrive. The goal is to make folks aware of potential issues that could occur and how to best react to the situation.

The cost of the session is $80 for members and $90 for nonmembers. Space is limited and registration is requested by May 11. For more information or to register, call the YWCA of Central Maine at 795-4050 or via email at [email protected].
