LEWISTON — “Considering Pregnancy?” is the subject of a special event set for Wednesday, June 20, at Central Maine Medical Center.

The program will include presentations by an obstetrician-gynecologist and a certified nurse-midwife. Tours of CMMC’s newly refurbished Special Delivery Family Birthing Center will be offered.

The program will begin at 6 p.m. with a discussion about “Intimacy in Pregnancy” by obstetrician-gynecologist Anne Merrick, D.O. She will talk about one of the questions most frequently posed by expectant parents: Is it safe to have sex during pregnancy?

Certified nurse-midwife Emilie Garcia will follow Merrick’s presentation with a discussion, “Midwifery Services: More Than Just Delivering Babies,” an exploration of the wide variety of services offered by nurse-midwives.

Both presentations, slated to last for 15 to 20 minutes, will be followed by a question-and-answer session.

Central Maine Obstetrics-Gynecology’s midwifery team and members of the obstetrics-gynecology staff will be on hand at the presentations and during the tours.

The program will be presented in the Young Wing Conference Room on the first floor of Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute at 60 High St. Those interested in attending the program are urged to call Chantel at 753-7652.
