Special Olympian Brenda LeConte of Lewiston practices chipping with her Special Olympics team, the Navigators of Lewiston -Auburn, at Pine Acres Golf Course in Auburn on Wednesday. LeConte said she got a lesson from Arnold Palmer three or four years when the golf legend was at a Special Olympics event in Scarborough. “He showed me how to stand , grip the club and swing, and after the lesson Arnold Palmer gave me one of his clubs,” LeConte said. “I still have it.” The Navigators will compete in September. The Pine Acres practice facilities are made available to the team free of charge.
