LEWISTON-AUBURN — Local bands, musicians and dancers will come together to keep the beat for more than 700 participants in the Bands on the Run Half Marathon & 5K on Sunday, June 24, in the two downtowns.
Events will get under way at 8:30 a.m., with Girl Power Fitness at the start line by DaVinci’s Eatery on Mill Street in Lewiston. People can then do a “band crawl” to check out bands along the race routes.
Participating bands include the New Wine Band at Lewiston’s Kennedy Park; The Grumps at Pedro O’Hara’s on Main Street, Lewiston; the Repeat Offenders at Festival Plaza on Main Street, Auburn; Chapel Street Alley at Gas Light Park in Lewiston; Ron Bergeron on Bradman Street in Auburn; the Rhythm Junkies Drum & Dance Tribe at Sunnyside Park in Lewiston; the Brookside Blues Band on Strawberry Avenue by the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society; and Veggies By Day at Simard-Payne Park in Lewiston near the finish line.
Proceeds from the half-marathon, 5K and kids’ obstacle course will benefit Museum L-A. For course maps with band locations and more information, visit bandsontherunhalf.com.
