Coaches: Julia Parker and Jane DiPompo (second year as consolidated program)

Last year’s record: 14-1-1, lost in Western Class B semifinals

Returning players: Seniors — Erin Gats, Jordan Seitz, Rachel Calden, Lorayanna Tracy, Jahna Couture, Ashlie Robbins, Rachel Goding, Kaylyn Walker, Tayla Knapp, Katrina Millett; Juniors — Kayla Meserve, Victoria Ouellette, LaDesta Tracy, Mariah Castonguay, Emily Taylor, Randi Duguay, Kasey Richards.

Key losses: Kathryn Ventrella, Kourtney Brennick, Catie Castonguay, Micaela Baron, Ashley Dorey, Ashlee Quirrion.

Promising newcomers: Juniors — Demi Dube, Brooke Cushing, Caitlin Wright, Kenda Newman; Sophomores — Liz Chretien, Caitlyn Beliveau, Caroline Donnell, Samantha Richards, Abbie Hartford, Morgan Fournier, Nicole Hamblin, Amanda Castonguay, Kaylia Brewer, Katie Gordan, Shyanne Turner, Rachel Reed, Patty Ryan; Freshmen — Grace Ryan, Katelyn Gervais, Bailey Gilboe, Emily Hogan, Kaylee Leclerc.

Outlook: The Phoenix enjoyed an undefeated regular season and boasted the MVC player of the year, Ventrella, in their first season as a combined program. Ventrella has graduated along with five key defensive players, but numbers (40 players), energy and expectations remain high. Much of Spruce’s returning talent is on the offensive end, so expect the team to be fast and explosive and geared to win high-scoring games.

Coach’s comment: “So far the energy level is good, spirits are high and excitement is elevated. This year’s team looks just as promising.” — Coach Jane DiPompo
