Bill Hiss and his wife, Colleen Quint, of Minot hold fragments of  the Lewiston Daily Sun newspaper dated August 15, 1903. The newspapers were discovered behind the exterior shingles of their barn, where they were used as a layer of insulation. Some of the fragments contained stories of daily life and political cartoons. “It is amazing how the newspapers survived for over 109 years. The discovery gave us a neat historic feeling,” Hiss said.
