BYRON — People planning to visit popular Angel Falls or access the Bemis Track off Route 17 in Houghton village should do it during Labor Day weekend due to impending bridge work.

The Houghton Bridge over the Swift River just west of Route 17 will be closed for repair from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 4, 5 and 6, according to a Monday news release from the Byron Town Office.

The bridge will be open on those three days after 5 p.m.

Allison Freeman, Byron’s treasurer and tax collector, said early Tuesday evening that townspeople and a contractor hired by the town will be replacing the small wooden bridge’s decking.
