LISBON — Kayla Angelico punched in a pair of back-to-back goals in both halves, allowing Lisbon to steer clear of Boothbay (1-2-1) with a 5-2 victory in a girls’ soccer game Wednesday.

All four of Angelico’s goals were unassisted.

Angelico dropped in Lisbon’s first two goals and Rachel Ball followed with her goal on a Kailyn Hill assist, giving the Greyhounds (3-0-1) a 3-0 lead in the first half.

Angelico topped off Lisbon’s victory with her third and fourth goal in the second half. Abby McLellan scored a pair of unassisted goals for Boothbay.

Lisbon kept Boothbay goalie McKayla McFetrige busy with 24 shots on net.

Dirigo 5, Telstar 1

BETHEL — Natalie Bolduc registered a hat trick Wednesday to propel Dirigo to a 5-1 victory over Telstar in an MVC girls’ soccer matchup.

Ambyr Wilson and Natasha Deroche also tallied for the Cougars (4-2) to complete the scoring. Alyssa Brands tallied the Rebels’ (1-3-1) lone goal with an assist from Rachael Wheeler.

Hall-Dale 3, Oak Hill 1

FARMINGDALE — Maura Stottler’s insurance goal at the 36:03 mark allowed Hall-Dale to record a 3-1 victory over Oak Hill in KVAC girls’ soccer action Wednesday.

Stottler scored her first goal in the opening minutes to give the Bulldogs (2-2) a 1-0 advantage. Eva Shepherd also tallied for Hall-Dale to complete the scoring. The Raiders (3-1) received a goal from Julie Morneault, with an assist from Bri Latulippe. Veteran keeper Olivia Maynard made seven saves for Hall-Dale, while Desiree Johns deflected a dozen shots for Oak Hill.

Madison 3, Spruce Mountain 1

JAY — Kirsten Wood fired a shot into the net late in Wednesday’s contest to give Madison a 3-1 win over Spruce Mountain in MVC girls’ soccer action.

Lindsey Allen put the Phoenix up 1-0 early on with a nice pass from Megan Duval. The Bulldogs answered when Whitney Lloyd tapped in a loose ball on the goal line.

Savanna Kandiko made 11 saves for Madison, while Emily Keene deflected six shots for Spruce Mountain.

St. Dom’s 7, Winthrop 0

WINTHROP — Kayla McLellan notched a hat trick and four other Saints scored a goal each as St. Dom’s rolled to a 7-0 victory over Winthrop in MVC girls’ soccer action.

Kelley McLellan, Marley Byrne, Kymberlee Johnson and Jenn McLean all tallied for the Saints (4-0-1), while Kelly Pomerleau stopped all four shots she faced to earn the shutout.

Danielle Pease tended the cage for the Ramblers (0-4-1), and stopped 15 St. Dom’s shots.

Field hockey

Mountain Valley 2, Dirigo 0

DIXFIELD — Mountain Valley managed a goal in each half to come away with a crisp 2-0 victory over Dirigo in an MVC field hockey tilt Wednesday.

Peyton Provencher and Nicole Burgess each tallied for the Cougars to show their strength. Vanessa Slack needed only two saves to notch the shutout, while Amanda Dolloff turned aside 11 shots in net for the Falcons.

Oxford Hills 1, Brunswick 1 (2OT)

PARIS — Brunswick managed a goal in the second half to come away with a 1-1 tie with Oxford Hills in field hockey action Wednesday.

Hannah Bobker tallied for the Dragons, while Whitney Morse scored for the Vikings (0-2-1).

Abigail Egan and Shannon Fillebrown combined to make 11 saves for Oxford Hills, while Jordan Van Salvage deflected six shots between the posts for Brunswick.

Oak Hill 1, St. Dom’s 0

LITCHFIELD — Sadie Goulet scored the winning goal in the firs half on a Courtney Roy assist as Oak Hill (3-3) held on to a 1-0 victory over St. Dom’s (1-4-1) in field hockey action Wednesday.

Oak Hill goalie Abby Fuller made three saves to preserve the shutout.

Men’s soccer

UNE 3, UMF 0

BIDDEFORD — The University of New England Nor’easters received goals from three different players in a 3-0 shutout against the University of Maine at Farmington in a non-conference men’s soccer match at Barbara J. Hazard Field on Wednesday.

The victory was the second consecutive for the Nor’easters (3-2), who got over the .500 mark thanks in part to a season-best scoring output. UMF now stands at 1-2 in the early going. Scoring chances were tough to come by for much of the first half until UNE junior Kyle McGlone converted a rebound of a saved Riley Goodrich shot to get Big Blue on the board 4:41 before intermission.

Women’s soccer

Bowdoin 3, Bates 2

BRUNSWICK — The Bowdoin College women’s soccer team moved to 3-0 for the first time since 2007 after a 3-0 triumph over Bates College at Pickard Field on Wednesday.

Bowdoin broke into the scoring column in the 26th minute of the contest, when Morgan Woodhouse served a crossing pass to first-year Kiersten Turner, who put home a low shot to give the Polar Bears a 1-0 advantage. The Polar Bears held off a late Bobcat push in the opening frame and got a spectacular diving save by goaltender Bridget McCarthy shortly before the break to maintain their one-goal edge.

Field hockey

Bates 1, Thomas 0

WATERVILLE — Bates College (1-1) handed Thomas (0-3) its third setback of the 2012 campaign with a 1-0 triumph over the Terriers in a non-conference field hockey tilt on the inaugural game on the Thomas turf field Wednesday night.

Bates forward Polly Merck would score the eventual game winner in the 10th minute of competition, grabbing the ball in front of the circle in front of a crowded net, burying it past Sourgiadakis.

Sofia Sourgiadakis and Jasmine Bishop came up big for the Terriers withholding the Bobcats from scoring on two penalty strokes to keep the game in reach.
