FARMINGTON — A local man and woman were arrested at a downtown motel Friday night after the Walmart pharmacy was reported robbed, police said early Saturday morning.

A tracking dog helped lead police to Timothy Campbell, 50, and Ashley Lake, 27, both of Farmington. Each was arrested on charges of robbery and possession of oxycodone.

Police said that at about 6:30 p.m., a woman walked into the pharmacy and handed a clerk a note. In the note, police said, the woman demanded oxycodone and claimed to have a gun.

No weapon was displayed.

The woman was given an unspecified amount of the prescription painkiller before she fled the store. Witnesses reported seeing the woman running across the parking lot and into the woods with a second suspect.

Farmington police arrived minutes later and began to search with help from a Franklin County Sheriff’s Department tracking dog. The dog picked up a scent and led investigators to a motel not far from the pharmacy, Detective Marc Bowering said.

Lake and Campbell were found together in one of the motel rooms, Bowering said. Also found there was most of the oxycodone stolen minutes earlier.

No gun was found.

The suspects were taken to the Franklin County jail where each was being held on $10,000 cash bail. Campbell was charged additionally with violating conditions of release stemming from an earlier, unrelated charge.
