HAMMOND (AP) — A 77-year-old eastern Maine man who spent a night in the woods while out hunting has been found, and it appears he is OK.

A spokeswoman for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife said Ralph Bubar of Linneus was found at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday in Hammond after spending more than 24 hours in the woods.

Bubar was found by Marty Fitzpatrick from Littleton, who went out to look for the missing hunter after reading about him online.

Bubar responded to Fitzpatrick’s calls. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The search started when Bubar’s son became concerned when his father did not return home on Saturday. Bubar was found about a mile and a half from where his truck was located.
