1. Cheverus (10-0)

The Stags are making this so look so elementary that it’s easy to overlook what we’re watching. No other team in a century of Class A football has ever won 34 in a row.

2. Thornton (9-1)

The only team in the south that’s bold enough to believe it belongs on the same field as Cheverus gets a second chance Saturday at Boulos Stadium.

3. Lawrence (10-0)

Bulldogs just keep beating everyone in the PTC by two or three touchdowns, even as the rest of the state prepares to install them as that much of an underdog against the Cheverus-Thornton survivor.

4. Mt. Blue (10-0)

Beat Waterville 53-24 three weeks ago in a game that wasn’t really that close. Why do we suspect that the letters “MDI” have been mentioned more than once at Cougars practice this week?

5. Cony (8-2)

Rams get another shot at Lawrence, the only team that’s been able to make their offense look like high school and not small college.

6. Brunswick (8-2)

Jared Jensen’s 2,200-plus yards are in the Fitzy clubhouse. Lately it’s been tough to win that award if you’re not on the field for Super Saturday.

7. Scarborough (7-3)

You have to feel sorry for the Red Storm. They had one of the best seasons in the history of the program. Meanwhile, every other team at the school played in a state final this fall.

8. Leavitt (7-2)

Still adjusting to the idea that the Hornets aren’t playing this weekend. You can bet they’ve struggled to come to grips with it, too.

9. Marshwood (9-1)

Wonder if Alex Rotsko’s first-year success after his legendary coaching career in Massachusetts has other schools anonymously sending real estate guides in that direction?

10. Foxcroft (9-1)

Doesn’t matter what class, what league or what level you’re playing in. If you’re within sniffing distance of the 500-point threshold for the season, you did something right.
