Coach: Gavin Kane (second year)

Last year’s record: 18-2, lost in Western B quarterfinals

Returning players: Juniors — Victoria Ouellette (5-10 forward), Ladesta Tracy (5-5 guard); Sophomores — Emily Keene (5-7 forward), Samantha Richards (5-11 center), Nicole Hamblin (5-7 guard), Vanese Barnes (5-7 forward), Amia Pelletier (5-7 forward), Kailee Newcomb (5-5 guard), Amanda Castonguay (5-6 guard).

Key losses: Alexi Deering (guard), Kathryn Ventrella (guard), Ashley Dorey (forward), Micaela Baron (forward), Ashlee Quirrion (guard), Kristi Macomber (forward).

Promsing newcomers: Senior — Loraynna Tracy (5-4 guard); Sophomore — Laura Wilkins (5-4 guard).

Outlook: Graduating six seniors took a wealth of experience and leadership from a team that lost in the MVC game last year. The Phoenix still have a young group that showed great promise last year. Many of the sophomores contributed significant minutes  and could be ready for bigger roles this year.

Coach’s comment: “Despite some serious graduation losses, I believe we will be right back in the hunt for an MVC title. That certainly is a goal of ours. We had numerous freshmen get some quality experience a year ago. We have made some gains with what we expect from our players defensively. If we continue to buy inito our defensive philosophy than I think the future is bright.” — Coach Gavin Kane.
