RUMFORD – Holy Savior School will host its 12th annual public benefit auction at 6:30 p.m. April 5 at the American Legion hall.

According to resident Judy Collette, who has helped out at benefit auctions in the past, the doors will open at 5 p.m., with former Rumford resident Mark Prevost acting as auctioneer.

“Mark used to live in Rumford, but he has since moved to the Lewiston-Auburn area,” Collette said. “He still has family up here, and he agreed to spend the night here to do this year’s auction. He’s been auctioneer for every year the auction has been in existence.”

Among the items up for auction are tickets to a Portland Sea Dogs game, an American Girl doll, a Keurig coffee maker, dance lessons and jewelry.

“We also have some handmade crafts that residents donated to us, such as hand-knitted afghans, homemade cards and other stuff,” Collette said. “Some restaurants donated gift certificates, and other residents donated gift cards to a variety of stores.”

The money raised at the benefit auction will go toward funding upcoming Holy Savior programs.

“During the first auction, they were attempting to raise money for a science lab,” Collette said. “Now, whatever the school’s needs are, they’ll direct the money towards it.”

For the first time in its 12 year run, the benefit auction will take place at the American Legion hall. Collette said Holy Savior School always “tries to support local venues.”

Any businesses or individuals who wish to donate an item or money can contact Collette at 364-5157, Sue Adley at 364-4919 or Holy Savior School at 364-2528.
