NEW SHARON — A truck hauling a 50-foot conveyor jackknifed and rolled over off Route 2 on Thursday, Maine State Trooper Aaron Turcotte said Monday.
David Newman, 20, of Livermore told police he was driving a 1997 Ford F-350 that was hauling the conveyor when he felt the equipment swaying and pushing him, Turcotte said. Newman overcorrected and the conveyor jackknifed and the truck rolled over off the road, Turcotte said. It landed on the driver’s side. Both units were significantly damaged, Turcotte said.
No serious injuries were reported, he said.
New Sharon Fire Rescue Department and Maine Department of Transportation assisted state police. The westbound lane was closed for about 90 minutes.
