Roland Morel of Greene helps unhook a fish for George Ramano, 10, center in red, and Gage Buiniskas, 12, in red hoodie, both from Auburn, as they fished in the 28th annual Beaver Park Fishing Derby in Lisbon on Sunday. Morel was at the derby with his daughter, Olivia, 10, far right, who had already caught two fish. More than 70 kids turned out to fish Middle Pond, which is stocked with brook trout and has naturally occurring perch, sunfish and bass. “It’s been a glorious day for it,” said Tracy Gosselin, a member of the Lisbon Conservation Commission who was helping to take donations and register kids. “This is simply for the family enjoyment of being in the outdoors.”
Austin Smiley, 13, of Lisbon casts for his sister, Caitlin, 9, during the 28th annual Beaver Park Fishing Derby on Sunday.
James Sikorski, 3, of Freeport shows off the brook trout he caught while fishing with his father, Mike, at the 28th annual Beaver Park Fishing Derby on Sunday. Prizes like kites, Frisbees and snorkel sets were given to the biggest fish in each group.
