WILTON — The Wilton Group will host two presentations to help residents become more informed about proposed town ordinances and the candidates on which they’ll vote in June.

Both presentations will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Comfort Inn on the next two Wednesdays.

The first presentation, planned for May 15, centers on proposed ordinances. Voters will decide whether to adopt the ordinances at the annual town meeting on June 10.

During the second presentation on May 22, voters can meet and greet candidates for selectmen and school board seats before casting their ballots on June 4.

“The purpose is to provide a better understanding of the ordinances and the candidates they are voting on,” Susan Atwood, a Wilton Group member, said of the informational sessions.

Police Chief Heidi Wilcox, fire Chief Sonny Dunham, James Black from the Ordinance Committee and other committee members are expected to be there this Wednesday to answer questions. Ron Aseltine will act as moderator for the event.

Voters will consider adopting ordinances for fireworks, disorderly properties, building and property maintenance, solid waste and recycling.

Each ordinance is listed on the town’s website at www.wiltonmaine.org, where residents can click on “Town Government” and scroll down to “Proposed Ordinances.”

The second presentation begins with a meet and greet with candidates. Each will be asked the same five questions. Time will be allotted for residents to ask questions, Atwood said.

Selectman D. Scott Taylor is running unopposed for his seat on the board but candidates Tiffany Maiuri and Ray Lagasse are running for the seat of Russell Black, who is not seeking re-election.

RSU 9 Director Robert Pullo is also not seeking re-election. Candidates James Black and Margaret Donahue seek that position.

The vote takes place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. June 4 at the town office.
