The Lewiston Youth Advisory Council was recognized at New Beginnings’ annual meeting. Lauded for filming a documentary on Lewiston youth homelessness, LYAC Chairman Kon Maiwan and Megan Pare accepted a certificate of appreciation from New Beginnings Executive Director Bob Rowe. Rowe stated, “Your leadership in bringing the plight of homeless youth to public attention through the documentary film, ‘Homeless Youth in Lewiston, Maine,’ is a landmark event in youth-to-youth advocacy in Lewiston and making a difference in the lives of Lewiston youth.” Rowe worked with LYAC during the documentary planning/filming. The documentary has since been shown at various venues, inspiring donations to New Beginnings and the Lewiston High School STEP Program. From left are Maiwan, Rowe and Pare.
