LEWISTON — Phyllis A. Weliska, 93, of Spruce Street, Rumford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 25, at Central Maine Medical Center.
She was born in Rumford, Oct. 21, 1919, a daughter of Peter and Ludvika (Antizus) Pocius. Phyllis was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Stephens High School, Class of 1938.
She married Stephen J. Weliska, Oct. 25, 1947, and lived in Rumford all of her life. Phyllis will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many.
She was a communicant of Parish of The Holy Savior, and was an active member of the Lithuanian Heritage club, and traveled with the club to Lithuania.
Phyllis looked forward to her summers with family in Nantucket, Mass. She loved gardening, Lithuanian cooking, traveling and spending time with her family.
Phyllis is survived by four daughters, Gloria Kilmartin and husband, John, of Providence, R.I., Patricia Clarke and husband, Joseph, of Lexington, Mass., Karen Elliott and husband, John, of Simpsonville, S.C., and Jayne Weliska of Breckinridge, Colo.; grandchildren, Erin Kilmartin, James Kilmartin, Peter Kilmartin, Michael Clarke, John Clarke, Lowell Elliott and Benjamin Elliott; a niece, Barbara (Buotte) Arsenault and husband, Roger, of Rumford; and a nephew, Peter Lee Buotte and wife, Rose, of Rumford.
She was predeceased by her husband, Stephen J. Weliska; sisters, Stella Pocius and Ann Buotte; and a brother, Peter Pocius.
