Monmouth 2, Telstar 1
MONMOUTH — Kylie Kemp doubled and scored on an RBi single by Bri Hicks in the bottom of the ninth inning Tuesday, boosting Monmouth t a big 2-1 MVC softball win over Telstar.
The game was scoreless through seven innings before each team scratched out a run in the eighth. Paxton Lessard permitted only four hits to pick up the win for the Mustangs (7-7) and out-duel Jessie Dirago, who struck out 15 to lead the Rebels (9-5).
Kemp and Sabrina Beck had two hits apiece for Monmouth. Telstar’s Taylor Savage singled twice.
Cape Elizabeth 3, Poland 0
CAPE ELIZABETH — Katie Rabasca hurled a three-hit shutout Tuesday, propelling Cape Elizabeth past Poland, 3-0, in WMC softball.
Cape (14-1) scored all three of its runs in the bottom of the first against Poland’s Kolby Woods, who struck out six and also allowed only three hits.
Elisa Flathers ripped an RBI double for the Capers. Hannah Saturley added an RBI single and Tess Haller knocked in a run with a groundout.
Lindsay Theriault doubled for Poland (9-6). Rabasca struck out two, and Cape played error-free defense.
Leavitt 7, Camden Hills 2
CAMDEN — Sara Pare crushed three hits to go along with two RBI to lead Leavitt past Camden Hills, 7-2, in girls’ softball action Tuesday.
Michelle Morin picked up the win for the Hornets (5-10). Sierra Santomango placed a double and two RBIs. Emily Perkins crushed three hits, including a double.
Ari Curney had the loss on the mound for Camden Hills.
Mtn. Valley 11, Lisbon 6
RUMFORD — Brooke Dolloff had an all around performance for her team on Senior day, belting a two-run homerun and shutting down the Lisbon offense as Mountain Valley topped Lisbon 11-6 in MVC softball action.
Dolloff had great run support from Katie Collette, who scattered three hits. Aly Carlton and Shannon Laubauskas each added two.
Kailyn Hill took the loss on the mound for the Greyhounds (3-12). Hill, Chantal Bisson, Bailey Madore and Arianna Kahler each smacked two hits.
Spruce Mountain 16, Boothbay 0
LIVERMORE FALLS — Ashlie Robbins got the job done at the plate on Tuesday, smacking four hits, one of which was a double, as Spruce Mountain jetted past Boothbay 16-0 in MVC softball.
Robbins had ample support from teammates Emily Keene, Cassidy Couture, LaDesta Tracy, and Elizabeth Chretien, who smacked a double apiece. Kaitlyn Castonguay got the victory on the mound for the Phoenix (9-6).
Skowhegan 21, Oxford Hills 9
SKOWHEGAN — Mikayla Toth, Andrea Quirion, Kaitlyn Therriault, and Lindsi Merrill all smacked a double for Skowhegan as they rolled past Oxford Hills 21-9 Tuesday.
Taylor Johnson had the win pitching for the Indians (10-6). Johnson had good hitting support from her team, with Toth scattering four hits. Merrill also added in two base hits to go along with her double on the day.
Crystal West took the loss for the Vikings (10-6). Annika Kahkonen, Anna Winslow, Abby Bernier, Haleigh Robinson and West all were repeat hitters for the Vikings.
Tennis
NYA 5, Lisbon 0
LISBON — No. 9 North Yarmouth Academy didn’t drop a set Tuesday while ousting No. 8 Lisbon, 5-0, in the preliminary round of the Western Class C girls’ tennis tournament.
Lena Rich, Mina Stam and Hannah Chapman swept the singles matches for the Panthers (8-5), losing a combined 11 games. Liry Stam and Hannah Hungerford down Lisbon’s Sarah Craig and Jordan Frederick in the lone doubles tilt. The other was a forfeit.
Freeport 4, Oak Hill 1
WALES — Siera Tibbetts and Emma Weissenfels scored a straight-sets doubles win for Oak Hill, but it was the only point Tuesday for the Raiders in a 4-1 Western Class B girls’ tennis preliminary loss to Freeport.
Katie McClelland, Sophie Smith, Laura Bielfeldt and the doubles tandem of Lauren Carter and Hannah Williams were victorious for the Falcons. Both teams are 7-6.
