HARTFORD, Conn. — Donald Robert Bonney, 83, of Rocky Hill, Conn., formerly of Glastonbury, passed away, May 31, at Hartford Hospital after an extended illness.

He was born in Livermore Falls, Dec. 16, 1929, son of Donald Curtis Bonney and Nina (Tobin) Bonney.

Donald graduated from the Leavitt Institute in Turner and from the Maine Maritime Academy. He sailed over much of the world while working as a marine engineer for Farrell Lines and served in the U.S. Navy.

He retired from the Travelers Insurance Co., working in the engineering division of the PropertyCasualty Commercial Lines Department and worked in their Hartford, Buffalo, N.Y., and Louisville, Ky. offices. He was a certified safety professional and an honorable Kentucky colonel. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who will be greatly missed.

Donald is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn of 58 years; two sons, David Bonney and his wife, Beth, of Rocky Hill, Conn., and Stephen Bonney and his wife, Tammy, of Morehead, Ky.; three grandchildren, of who he was incredibly proud, Meghan, Kevin and Kathryn.

He was predeceased by his brother, Bernard Bonney of Auburn.
