ALFRED (AP) — A Maine man has reached a plea agreement with prosecutors to plead guilty to the fatal stabbing of a friend in exchange for a sentence of no longer than 40 years.
Assistant District Attorney Lisa Marchese said 45-year-old Michael Swenson is scheduled to enter his plea Friday in York County Superior Court in Alfred. A sentencing date has not been scheduled.
Swenson is charged with killing 49-year-old Roger White outside an Old Orchard Beach bar in April 2012. Following his arrest, police said he told investigators that he snapped after the victim hit him and choked him.
Police said Swenson was from Scarborough but had been living in a lean-to along railroad tracks in Old Orchard Beach.
