AUBURN — Another Breast Cancer Awareness Month presentation will be a Pink Talk at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at Auburn City Hall.
Author Annette Vance Dorey will give a talk, “Challenges of Our Early Female Physicians.” She is the author of “Miss Dr. Lucy and Maine’s Pioneering Female Physicians, 1850s-1920.”
Dorey will discuss the trials and tribulations early female physicians faced during their careers in the mid-19th century into the early 20th century. She will also discuss the nature of early medical care and the challenges faced by women who sought medical degrees.
A tribute to those early Maine female physicians who were struck down by cancer will be highlighted by one or two profiles from the book.
Dory will be displaying her book to sell and sign. This event is free to the public and refreshments will be served.
