1935 – 2013
MINOT — Dwight R. Nichols, 78, of Minot, stopped talking on Monday, Nov. 25.
He was born on May 21, 1935, the son of Dwight F. and Lillian Stone Nichols. He was well-known as the owner of Nichols Construction, which he established in the 1950s.
Dwight was never one to rely on anyone to get something done for him. He loved to play softball, so he built several softball fields on his property. He was a fantastic dancer and he built the Nickelodeon so he could share his passion with others.
Dwight was also known to be seen at a casino now and then. His favorite pastime was watching professional boxing and he would give people a blow-by-blow description of a boxing match that happened 40 years ago. In his later years, Dwight liked to spend time riding his Harley-Davidson trike throughout Maine and during his winter visits to Florida.
He is survived by his three children, Rick and Kris Nichols of Minot, Pam and John Novicki of Florida and Daren Nichols and Yolanda Mangino of Minot; four grandchildren, Amanda, Alexandra, Shane and Logan; and two sisters, Marlene Fournier and Dawn Denham.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ann; and a brother, Bob.
Online condolences may be shared with his family at www.chandlerfunerals.com.
