STONY BROOK, N.Y.  —  Ahmad Walker scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to power Stony Brook to its sixth straight win Sunday, this time rolling past Maine, 79-61 to remain undefeated in America East Conference play.

Stony Brook (15-6, 7-0) now has won 13 straight conference games, a streak that dates back to last year, and now have beaten Maine in six straight games, including the last five meetings on its home court.

Walker was joined in double figure scoring by Dave Coley’s 17 points, Carson Puriefoy and Anthony Jackson, who each scored 11, and Eric McAlister’s 10.

The Seawolves trailed briefly in the first half, but took the lead for good after McAlister’s dunk with 16:18 left and lead by as many as 12 points before taking a 27-20 lead into intermission.

Maine (3-16, 1-6) got a 19-point effort from Xavier Pollard, with Till Gloger adding 10 points.

Women’s basketball

CMCC 85, Dean College 76

AUBURN — Gabby Foy drained five 3’s and led Central Maine Community College to an 85-76 win over Dean College Sunday in women’s college basketball.

The game was tied 39-39 at the half. CMCC then outscored Dean 46-37 in the second half.

Laura Soohey hadded 15 points for CMCC. Lexi Larson finished with 14 while Maggie McConkey added 13. Dean was led by Victoria Nguyen with 20. Shaina Rowley had 18 off the bench.

Stony Brook 65, UMaine 49

BANGOR — Liz Wood went 7-for-7 from the free throw line on her way to a game-high 15 points but it would not be enough as the University of Maine women’s basketball team (10-10, 4-3 America East) dropped a 65-49 decision to visiting Stony Brook (15-5, 6-1) on Sunday afternoon at Cross Insurance Center.

Ashleigh Roberts chipped in nine points while Sophie Weckstrom hit a trio of 3-pointers en route to a nine point performance.

Maine went 16-for-52 (30.8%) from the floor and 13-for-15 (86.7%) from the free throw line while bringing down 30 rebounds.

Stony Brook was led by Chikilra Goodman who tallied 12 points, five rebounds and six assists.
