1925 – 2014
LEWISTON — Doris Bailey Whitaker, 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 7, at Marshwood Center in Lewiston. She was born on July 9, 1925, in Lewiston.
Doris enjoyed collecting sterling silver jewelry. QVC was, at one time, her favorite TV channel. Doris also enjoyed many crafts, such as knitting, embroidery, braiding rugs, rug-hooking and counted cross-stitch. One winter, she knitted 100 hat and mitten sets for Catholic Charities.
Doris is survived by her son, Brad and his wife, Pam, of Winslow; her daughter-in-law, Lisa Whitaker of San Antonio, Texas; and her siblings, Charlie Bailey of Mechanic Falls, Hazel Moore of Lewiston, Richard and his wife, Janet, of Greenville, Texas, and Paul and his wife, Donna, of Patten. She is also leaves her grandchildren, Erin, Ross and Kayla; and great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Mariana; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Doris was predeceased by her husband, Earnest Whitaker; her son, Craig; and her siblings, Patty and Earl Bailey Jr.
