1943 – 2014

AUBURN — Frank J. Brown Sr., 70, of New Gloucester, died Sunday, March 9, at the Hospice House, after a short illness with his loving family at his side.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Aug. 29, 1943, a son of the late Melfred and Edna (Donahue) Brown. He was a graduate of Erasmus Hall High School, Class of 1960. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict.

On Jan. 31, 1970, Frank married the former Donna Demers, who survives him of New Gloucester. Prior to his retirement, he worked for more than 37 years at Pioneer Plastics.

Frank enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He had been a member of the American Legion in Gray, a former member of the New Gloucester Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the National Rifle Association and an avid hunting and fishing enthusiast.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Cheri Roy and her husband, Kevin, of Buxton; one son, Frank Brown Jr. and his wife, Tammy, of Spout Springs, Va.; three brothers, Patrick Brown and his wife, Esther, of Coral Springs, Fla., Thomas Brown and his wife, Barbara, of Deland, Fla., and John Brown and his companion, Laurie Hutchins, of New Gloucester; one sister, Patricia Demers and her husband, Richard, of New Gloucester; his mother-in-law, Annie Demers, of Auburn; six grandchildren, Alex and Curtis Brown, and Brianna, Megan, Zachary and Brady Roy; two goddaughters, Tammy Demers and Julie Macomber; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a nephew, James Brown, in 1972.
