“I’d bet we’ve done over 200,” said Tania Whittier as she served up strawberry shortcakes at Poland Spring Heritage Day at Poland Spring Inn on Saturday. Sales of strawberry pies, jams, cheesecakes, shortcakes and chocolate-dipped strawberries benefited the Poland Community Church.

When asked what her favorite part about the day was, she exclaimed, “The chocolate!” “We’re here for the history,” added her father Gary Russell. “I’ve worked here at Poland Spring Inn off and on since 1977 and my dad went to the one-room school here. My mom worked at the post office here too.”
