OXFORD — Democrats gathered Sunday evening at their headquarters to select a new candidate to run for county commissioner after Terry Hayes withdrew from the primary to take a job with gubernatorial candidate Eliot Cutler.

Led by Chairwoman Cathy Newell, a group of about 28 members unanimously elected Hartford Selectmen Lee Holman to run for county commissioner.

Holman has been on the county Budget Committee for 11 years. She served Hartford as general assistance director and as selectman for 12 years. 

Roy Gedat was voted in as secretary.
