AUBURN – Stephen and Patricia Sawyer of Auburn are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Anne Sawyer of New York City, to John Shields of New York City, son of Daniel and Marlene Shields of Punta Gorda, Fla., formerly of Lewiston.

Miss Sawyer is a 1996 graduate of Lewiston High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Trinity College and a master’s degree in higher and post-secondary education from Columbia University. She is currently the chief of staff for the Office of Accountability in the New York City Department of Education.

Mr. Shields is a 1995 graduate of Lewiston High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas. He is currently a business consultant for Eze Castle Software.

An August wedding date has been set.
