Wildlife Encounters at Wildlife Park

GRAY — The wildlife experts from Wildlife Encounters will visit the Maine Wildlife Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 19, with a living menagerie of exotic wildlife related to the park’s own residents.

See and photograph live, non-native wildlife like a serval cat, crested porcupine, arctic fox, indigo snake, alligator snapping turtle, giant bullfrog or Egyptian fruit bat, all while learning how they are linked to Maine’s resident wildlife.

Wildlife Encounters is a nonprofit organization and a both a federal- and state-licensed wildlife exhibitor.

Alzheimer’s Assoc. early stage programs

SCARBOROUGH — The Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter has announced the following upcoming Early Stage Social Engagement Programs for the week of July 21:

In a visit to the Southworth Planetarium, attendees will view a show about IBEX, the NASA probe that recently made headlines when it reached the edge of the solar system. Program takes place on July 23 and cost is $5 per person.

A Baxter Brewer tour is also planned. Enjoy a personal, guided tour of the craft beer producers in Lewiston.

The Maine Chapter’s Early Stage Social Engagement Program is open to those living with early stage Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias and their care partners.

13th Annual Maine Lobster Ride

ROCKLAND — The 13th annual Maine Lobster Ride will take place from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 20, starting and ending at the Oceanside High School, 400 Broadway.

The six routes offer options of 100 miles, 80 miles, two 50-mile options, 30 miles and 15 miles. All of the Midcoast routes are fully supported with rest stops, healthy snacks and SAG vehicles.

After the ride, participants will enjoy a fresh Maine lobster roll lunch, with vegetarian and tuna options available.

Registration and packet pickup opens on Sunday at 6:30 a.m. The first ride leaves at 7:30 a.m. Early registration and packet pickup is also available at Oceanside High School on Saturday evening from 4 to 6 p.m.

Komen Race for the Cure volunteers

PORTLAND — Volunteers are needed for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K on Sept. 14.
